Parrot Adoption and Rescue

Updated on 7/20/2011

Hi, we have several cockatiels up for adoptions. There are both male and female, tame and un-tame. These lovely cockatiels make great pets and are perfect for young and old. They make great company for any individual. Cockatiels can easily be adopted in pairs. They are very social and the males are excellent at whistling and talking. Cockatiels have lots of dust and if you have allergies these birds are not for you. They are quiet and good apartment pets. Because cockatiels are not demanding, if you have a full time job, you will not have to worry about the cockatiels screaming all day while you are gone.

Lola
Lola is a beautiful 4 year old female bronze winged pionus. Lola has been to the vet and tested for avian viruses which are all negative. She is on a pelleted diet with some wholesome table foods. Lola is showered weekly and this helps to keep down her dust.  She is a very friendly and loveable bird, but currently is having hormonal issues. Lola’s issues are definitely because her owner is not providing what is needed to cease these behaviors. Definitely food, sleep, and toy choices as well as out of cage time will play an important role with these issues.  The potential adopter will need to provide this type of environment so that Lola’s hormone issues will diminish. If you are looking for a quiet, companion bird, Lola would be that bird. She loves shoulders and playing with her toys when she is not hormonal.  Lola will not be adopted to anyone wanting to breed her. Or anyone having a pionus of the opposite sex. Or anyone that wants to house Lola with another bird. Lola's adoption fee is $300. Please do not call, if Lola is on my adoption page and you see her listed, then Lola is still available. NO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS!

Maya
Hello, this is Maya, a female double yellow headed amazon. Maya is great bird, but you must know how to handle  amazons! For an amazon person, Maya is an easy bird. If you do not know how to handle amazons,  Maya is not for you. Maya is on a pelleted diet with fresh veggies. She does talk a little, likes to be the center of attention and is used to being out of her cage most of the day. Maya loves her toys and needs several to keep busy so as not get on the floor to chew up your wood work!  No cats please! Maya will be adopted into a home with other amazons, but the amazons must also be female. We do local adoptions, no out of state adoptions. Please download the adoption application and completely fill this out and mail it back to us when finished. You can e-mail or fax back if desired. No phone calls please, only e-mails!

Maya is currently with her owner until other arrangements can be made. Her adoption fee is not set yet until Maya sees the vet. At that time the adoption fee will be determined. This fee is usually around $400.

Razz
Hi, my name is Razz and I arrived today at HPR. I have already been to the vet today before going to foster care. As you can see,  I am a beautiful female, pineapple green cheek conure. I am on FB Zupreem pellets. I love attention from everyone. I am a conure and like most conures I can be loud and nippy. Razz is 3 years old, not too loud and loves eating. Razz loves her brown rice mixture with cut up fresh red pepper!

Please no apartment dwellers because conures can scream, even though Razz is not a screamer.   Parrots are a big commitment and many will outlive their owners, so be prepared to have her for the next 30 years! I will not be adopted to any breeders. In fact, I will not be adopted into a home if the same type conure exists, unless they are the same sex.  My adoption fee is $250, no out of state adoptions!

Quaker Babies
The baby quakers are 10 weeks old now and  ready to be adopted.  They have already been to the vet and their tests done. The birds are doing well, eating pellets, playing with toys and flying. These babies are very friendly and like being fussed over. All the babies are boys. The babies will not be adopted to breeders and no one with opposite sex quakers. I travel 1 hour to do home inspections, no further. Please, no out of state adoptions. If you think you may be interested in adopting one of these babies, please go to www.happeparrotsrescue.com. Please download the adoption application. Please fill out the application and once completed please return to Happe Parrots Rescue.

Each adoption fee for these babies is $250 this includes all the blood work and vet care.

Sweetheart
This is Sweetheart, a female Moluccan cockatoo and almost 14 years old. She has not fully feathered, her chest is bare and those feathers will not grow back. When she came to rescue almost 4 years ago, she was nearly naked. Sweetie, as we call her was on a terrible seed diet all her life and not getting the nutrients she needed. So Sweetie picked and picked and picked. Sweetie has stopped picking for the most part, but her feather follicles were damaged and her feathers on her chest will not grow back. Even with this little obstacle, Sweetie remains the absolute sweetest cockatoo ever! Sweetie eats pellets and some veggies and fruit. She has been to the vet and tested for avian viruses and is negative. Sweetie loves every one and wants to cuddle up with you all day. However for those wanting a cockatoo friend for your cockatoo, Sweetie does not like other cockatoos, she is afraid of them. So, I cannot adopt Sweetie out to anyone looking for this situation to happen, because it won't. I am looking for someone who has cockatoo experience and understands cockatoo behavior to adopt Sweetheart. Like all cockatoos Sweetheart can be very, very loud, so you must live in a house, not townhome, condo or apartments! I am also looking for someone who either works a short day or part time so Sweetie is not alone all day. Other birds keeping Sweetie company will not work. Sweetie needs lots of human attention! Sweetie's adoption fee is $400 plus you must have an appropriate sized cage for a large cockatoo. I would need to see the cage if I adopt Sweetie to you.

If you are interested in Sweetheart, please download the adoption application and completely fill it out. After you are done filling it out you can e-mail, fax or mail it to us.
